Jennifer L. Mezzio R.Y.T.
Yoga Alliance Certified
Reiki Practitioner
Jennifer graduated from Quinnipiac University with an M.S. in Organizational Leadership and CIS. She also has a B.S. from Teikyo Post University where she majored in Management Information Systems with a minor in Management. Jennifer is currently pursuing a certificate in Holistic Nutrition, as well as Weight Loss Management and Emotional Support.
She has been exposed to fitness and health for several years, including working at Powerhouse Gym in Naugatuck and Fitness World in Watertown as a weightlifting trainer, as well as a yoga instructor at World Gym in Watertown. As a bodybuilder, Jennifer understands the importance of a whole food diet, as well as the effects of the right food for growth and recovery. She advocates a healthy, natural lifestyle, that nourishes both the body and mind.
Jennifer is also in the process of starting a non-profit 501c3 organization called Open Door Project. Open Door Project empowers and develops self-esteem in young people to combat bullying from the inside out. Open Door Project develops and delivers programs that build confidence and create self-awareness and self-appreciation. In addition, Open Door Project provides mentorship opportunities that educate both individuals and the community to better understand the effects of bullying.
Being in the corporate environment everyday, Jennifer understands stress. However it was her own personal trauma that brought her to study yoga in 2003. The positive effects yoga brought her dramatically changed her life. Jennifer wanted to develop her practice further and to share yoga with others. She decided to study at Lotus Gardens and become a 200 hour certified Yoga Teacher in 2005 as well as a Reiki Practitioner studying under Reiki Master Doreen Thomas. In addition, she continuously studies both nutrition and alternative healing and strongly believes in the mind/body connection. Jennifer’s mantra is that yoga is for every BODY and everybody can benefit from Yoga.
